EUCOM Commander visits Finland

General Curtis Scaparrotti, Commander, U.S. European Command, visited Finland Aug. 9-10, 2017. There, he met with senior civilian and military leaders to include: President Sauli Niinistö and Defense Minister Jussi Niinistö. The trip also included a visit to Helsinki University where he addressed the National Defence Course Association and discussed bilateral defense relations and the shared values between the U.S. and Finland.

Rapid Trident 16 Concludes with Closing Ceremony

YAVORIV, Ukraine – Exercise Rapid Trident 16 concluded today with a closing ceremony held at the parade grounds at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center in Yavoriv, Ukraine. The exercise is a multinational exercise designed to support military cooperation among Ukraine, the U.S., and 11 other Allied and partner nations involving about 2,000 military members which was held from June 27 – July 8.

Black Sea Rotational Force: Fire the TOW

U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Gordon Kwei, anti-tank missile man with Weapons Company, Black Sea Rotational Force, fires the tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided anti-tank missile (TOW), while Staff Sgt. Wayne Edmiston, combat correspondent with Black Sea Rotational Force, records it during the combined anti-armor team sustainment training for Exercise Platinum Lion 15-3, July 8 at Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria. The Marines launched 10 TOW missiles fired from M41 Sabers mounted to the turrets of Humvees. Marines with Black Sea Rotational Force and service members from Bulgaria, Romania, the United Kingdom and Albania are conducting the two-week exercise to promote regional cooperation and foster interoperability in order to combat security threats. The school received office furniture, such as desks, tables and chairs donated by U.S. Department of Defense, European Command (EUCOM) in cooperation with the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Ukraine.
