Volunteer Internship Program

Headquarters United States European Command (HQ USEUCOM) offers volunteer opportunities to both students and college graduates in the EUCOM Volunteer Intern Program (EVIP).

The student program provides opportunities to those who have been accepted to or enrolled in an accredited trade school, college or university (Waiverable pending review). These opportunities allow students to explore career options in their field of study and develop personal and professional skills. Volunteer students are exposed to the work environment while learning about the Department of Defense missions and responsibilities.  

*Army ROTC students need to apply for the internship through US Army Cadet Command.*

*High school students who were dual enrolled and have a minimum of 30 credit hours all eligible to apply. They must send in a copy of their college transcripts.

Student volunteer service is enriching and benefits include:

  • Exposure to new and emerging occupations and professions
  • Department of Defense SECRET clearance for those that qualify

HQ USEUCOM also offers volunteer opportunities to those who attended college for a minimum of 60 credit hours or graduated college with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree.  The Professional Fellows is designed for EUCOM to leverage the Human capital that is in the Stuttgart military community which isn't working on the economy. 

Professional Fellows provides:

  • Opportunity for the Professional Interns to avoid gaps in their work history
  • Potentially direct their skills in a new direction
  • Department of Defense SECRET clearance for those that qualify

Eligibility Criteria

                Two different paths

    • Student
      • Must be accepted to or  enrolled in, at least half-time, in any accredited undergraduate or graduate educational institution degree program (waiverable pending review)
      • Must obtain and maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (waiverable pending review)
      • Must be able to work a minimum of forty (40) hours for eight (8) weeks-summer or twenty (20) hours for sixteen (16) weeks
      • Must be a U.S. Citizen and must be able to successfully complete a background security investigation for a SECRET clearance
    • Professional
      • Must have attended for a minimum of 60 credit hours or graduated college with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree
      • Must be able to work a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week for sixteen (16) weeks (work schedules may vary)
      • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Both Student and Professional Fellows must have SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) (waiverable pending review) and obtain a security clearance.

Once placed in the program, students and Professional Fellows may continue to volunteer as a long as they meet program eligibly requirements.
