During Operation Allies Welcome, a warehouse facility operated by Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Sigonella was converted temporarily to a housing facility for hundreds of evacuees from Afghanistan in August and September 2021 at Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella, Italy. NAS Sigonella is supporting the Department of State mission to facilitate the safe relocation of U.S. citizens, Special Immigration Visa recipients, and vulnerable populations from Afghanistan.
