LRMC surpasses 100K COVID-19 tests

This week, as the largest U.S. military hospital outside the continental United States, LRMC surpassed 100,000 COVID-19 tests with a continued commitment toward diminishing the virus. This is evidenced by ongoing additions to its laboratory arsenal, such as the recent U.S. Food and Drug Administration-authorized Rapid Antigen Tests, or RAT tests. Using a RAT test, patients can read their results directly from the testing card, similar to home pregnancy tests.

Vehicle mechanics keep Army rolling throughout European theater

Warm air carrying the smell of used motor oil and grease circulated through the open bay of the mechanic shop. While one mechanic combed through the colored tangle of wires exposed under the vehicle’s dashboard, another mechanic scanned the various hoses and tubes under the hood of their assigned vehicle. U.S. Army Master Sgt. Ryan Thiers, battalion maintenance sergeant for Special Troops Battalion, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, works with the mechanics on their basic skills and assists with all inquiries. Troubleshooting vehicles can take days to complete but with help from other knowledgeable soldiers, it will help ensure their assigned vehicles are mission capable promptly.

Soldiers from both units are recognized for exemplary behavior and performance, prior to or during their unit's rotation. Scaparrotti stops at the location for a short visit with the Soldiers before attending a brief on the incoming unit's progress and plans to move forward. 1-68 Armor fires first rounds in Poland

A round is fired from an M1A2 Main Battle Tank belonging to 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division during the first Live Fire Accuracy Screening Tests at Presidential Range in Swietozow, Poland, January 16, 2017. The arrival of 3rd Arm. Bde. Cmbt. Tm., 4th Inf. Div., marks the start of back-to-back rotations of armored brigades in Europe as part of Atlantic Resolve. The vehicles and equipment, totaling more than 2,700 pieces, were shipped to Poland for certification before deploying across Europe for use in training with partner nations. This rotation will enhance deterrence capabilities in the region, improve the U.S. ability to respond to potential crises and defend allies and partners in the European community. M1A2 Abrams in Bulgaria - First Live Fire Exercise

Soldiers with 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, participate in a live-fire tank shoot firing the first ever rounds fired by a U.S. M1A2 tanks in Bulgaria at Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria, June 24. Transported as part of a tank section from Germany to Bulgaria, the Abrams tank will be used by soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, alongside Bulgarian soldiers from the 6th Brigade Battle Group, during a live-fire exercise during Operation Speed and Power during Kabile 15 as part of Atlantic Resolve-South.
