LEGIONOWO, Poland - As cyber warfare increasingly becomes the battlefield of the 21st century, U.S. European Command and Polish Cyber Command have taken a significant step forward in their collaboration. In a decisive move towards bolstering regional security in the digital age, the two commands formalized their partnership framework in cyberspace operations with the signing of a Letter of Intent. The signing took place January 12, at Polish Cyber Command Headquarters in Legionowo, Poland with Brig. Gen. Mathew Wenthe, U.S. European Command Deputy Director of Operations, and Maj. Gen. Karol Molenda, Commander, Polish Cyber Command, signaling a new era of enhanced collaboration and shared commitment to defending against evolving cyber threats.
Molenda emphasized the significance of this milestone. “Today’s signing of the Letter of Intent with U.S. European Command reflects our shared commitment to strengthening cyber defense. Since 2019, we have built this partnership step-by-step by starting from establishing cooperation principles and trust and evolving into joint initiatives and side-by-side collaboration between our experts. This agreement reinforces our ability to act together at the operational level, ensuring effective and coordinated responses to cyber challenges while reaffirming our shared commitment to advancing regional cybersecurity as a collective effort.”
Wenthe also highlighted the strategic importance of the Letter of Intent and emphasized the critical timing of the enhanced partnership framework, as adversaries increasingly turn to digital means to threaten NATO's security.
"The cyber threats we face today impact us all and require strong partnerships. Polish Cyber Command has consistently demonstrated forward-leaning leadership in the building of their cyber forces and responding decisively to emerging challenges in the digital domain. U.S. European Command deeply values our partnership with Polish Cyber Command, and today's signing of a Letter of Intent formalizes our mutual commitment to the defense of our nations and NATO. We look forward to the continued strengthening of our cyber capabilities together to defend NATO in cyberspace, ensuring a more secure and resilient digital future for the Alliance and the region."
