VILNIUS, LITHUANIA – The Baltic Sea Command and Control, Communications, Computers, Cyberspace, and Intelligence Synchronization Board (BSC5ISB) convened a meeting from July 14-18, 2025, in Vilnius, Lithuania, focusing on strengthening interoperability among the defense forces of the United States, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Representatives from these nations gathered to advance joint operational goals and enhance collaborative defense capabilities.
The BSC5ISB serves as a quadrilateral forum dedicated to establishing and validating interoperability requirements and roadmaps. Participants engaged in discussions aimed at implementing technical solutions and architectures for secure information exchange and persistent communications. Advancing capabilities through coordinated training, exercises, and synchronized multinational efforts to improve joint warfighting functions and multi-domain awareness was a core objective.
Throughout the week, attendees engaged in discussions on a range of topics critical to defense cooperation. National representatives provided updates on their respective efforts to modernize and enhance their defense systems, highlighting both successes and ongoing challenges. These updates fostered a deeper understanding of each nation’s capabilities and priorities, laying the groundwork for more effective collaboration.
Working groups delved into specific areas of interoperability, focusing on enhancing communication protocols, data sharing, and joint operational readiness. These groups provided a valuable platform for experts to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and identify opportunities for synergy.
