U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Edward Vaughan, the U.S. European Command strategy, plans and capabilities deputy director, traveled to Baku, Azerbaijan, March 14-16, 2023. His visit included engagements with government officials from Azerbaijan's ministry of defense, ministry of emergency situations and state border service. The leaders' discussions included the strong U.S.-Azerbaijan security partnership and mutual commitment to regional security. A U.S. Navy captain from U.S. Naval Forces Central Command also attended the engagements, showcasing the value of USEUCOM’s cross-combatant command partnership with U.S. Central Command in addressing shared regional issues.

"Our meetings with Azerbaijani defense and security leaders underscore the importance of the partnership between our two nations," Vaughan said. "We look forward to continuing our dialogue on regional security issues."
