Volunteer Internship Program
Headquarters United States European Command (HQ USEUCOM) offers volunteer opportunities to both students and college graduates in the EUCOM Volunteer Intern Program (EVIP).
The student program provides opportunities to those who have been accepted to or enrolled in an accredited, college or university and pursuing an undergraduate degree. These opportunities allow students to explore career options in their field of study and develop personal and professional skills. Volunteer students are exposed to the work environment while learning about the Department of War missions and responsibilities.
Student volunteer service is enriching and benefits include:
- Career exploration early in their academic studies
- Exposure to new and emerging occupations and professions
- Department of War Secret clearance for those that qualify
Student requirements:
- Accepted or enrolled in a college or university at least half-time minimum GPA 2.5 on 4.0 scale
- Completed minimum of 60 credit hours or Associate Degree
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week for 8 weeks (summer) or 20 hours per week for 16 weeks
- US citizen and successfully complete background security investigation for Secret clearance
Applications for student internship will be accepted from September 1 through October 31
HQ USEUCOM also offers volunteer opportunities to those who attended college with a minimum of 60 credit hours or graduated college with a minimum of an Associate Degree. The professional fellows are designed for EUCOM to leverage the human capital in the Stuttgart military community who are not working on the economy.
Volunteering as a professional fellows provide an opportunity to:
- Avoid gaps in the work history
- Enhance current skills or acquire new ones
- US citizens that successfully complete a background security investigation a Department of War Secret clearance
Professional fellow requirements:
- Completed minimum of 60 credit hours or graduated college with a minimum of an Associate Degree
- Must be able to work a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week for sixteen (16) weeks (work schedules may vary
- Must be a U.S. Citizen

- Both Student and Professional Fellows must have SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) (waiver able pending review) and obtain a Secret security clearance.
- Both students and professional fellows are responsible for their expenses (i.e., transportation, lodging, meals etc.).
- Once placed in the program, students and professional fellows may continue to volunteer as a long as they meet program eligibly requirements.
