U. S. European Command announces additional security measures

STUTTGART, Germany -- The forces within U.S. European Command in cooperation with the host nation and local officials are taking all the necessary steps to ensure the security of its families and facilities. Families are encouraged to remain at their residences where they are the most secure.

Force protection level Delta provides for the most proactive security measures to best guarantee your safety. Those measures are in place now.

Accordingly, all DoD Schools within U.S. European Command will be closed for the next 24 hours in order to assess the current security environment. All service members are expected to report for duty tomorrow and check with their supervisors on reporting times.

These steps are not a response to any direct threat to Americans in Europe; they are simply the most prudent measures that we can take to increase the safety of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, civilian employees and their family members.

We will continually keep all family members informed and updated on security and force protection measures.
