French ceremony participants greet World War II veterans during a memorial ceremony in Bricquebec-en-Contin, France, June 1, 2019. The annual ceremony is held to honor the lives of crewmen of the two B-17’s that were shot down near the towns of Bricquebec and Rocheville. Highlighting the strength of the U.S. commitment to European security, U.S. military personnel and equipment will support and commemorate the 75th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 - most commonly known as D-Day. The largest multi-national amphibious attack and operational military airdrop in history, D-Day is considered the beginning of the end of WWII in Europe.
