U.S. Marines from Marine Rotational Force – Europe, alongside Sweden’s 1st Marine Regiment, executed Archipelago Endeavor, an annual exercise held in Sweden. from Sept. 8-18. The 2023 iteration involved nearly 300 Marines from Sweden and the U.S. to train on offensive and defensive operations and amphibious vessel-borne raids and patrols in the Swedish Archipelago.

Archipelago Endeavor exercises are designed to increase interoperability and enhance strategic and tactical cooperation between Swedish and U.S. Marines. The long-planned engagements are used to hone U.S., Ally and partner abilities to undertake large-scale military operations under challenging conditions, and reaffirm our commitment to enhancing readiness, capability and flexibility in response to changing security environments.

The exercise furthers NATO Allies and partner maritime powers' ability to deploy anytime, anywhere. Archipelago Endeavor is an example of this and promotes peace and security through cooperation, collaboration and interoperability in the Baltic Sea region.
