D-Day 2019

World War II Veteran, Tom Rice, greets 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) soldiers during the a memorial ceremony in Carentan, France, June 7, 2019. During the ceremony, twenty-one “Screaming Eagle” Soldiers conducted a reenlistment ceremony, led by General Mark A. Milley, former Deputy Commanding General for the 101st Abn. Div., and the current U.S. Army Chief of Staff. The ceremony is arranged in the same manner as a June 20, 1944 ceremony in which then Div. Commander Maj. Gen. Maxwell Taylor presented awards to Screaming Eagle Soldiers in the Carentan Town Square, after the city’s liberation.
