EUCOM Memorial Day Ceremony 2020

Every year, USEUCOM participates in Memorial Day ceremonies at all 21 U.S. military cemeteries in Europe with color guards, troop formations, chaplains, military bands, buglers, general officer/flag officer speakers, firing details and flyovers. Due to COVID-19, all public ceremonies were cancelled this year. However, a global pandemic doesn’t lessen USEUCOM’s commitment to honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the Nation.

A Turkish Airbus A400M Atlas carrying COVID-19 supplies arrived at Joint Base Andrews, Md., at approximately 5:30 p.m. April 28, 2020. The medical provisions on board the airbus included medical gloves, masks, protective goggles, hand sanitizer, and protective clothes. Great to have the support from a key NATO Ally!

U.S. & Hungarian Bilateral Exercise

U.S. Army Green Berets assigned to 19th Special Forces Group, Airborne, 352d Special Operations Wing and Hungarian Special Operations Forces trained together last week in Szolnok, Hungary. Master Sgt. Matthew Williams: Operation Commando Wrath

Then an Army sergeant, Matthew Williams served as a weapons sergeant with Operational Detachment Alpha 3336, Special Operations Task Force 11, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force Afghanistan. On April 6, 2008, the detachment was on a mission in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province to capture or kill high-value insurgent targets. DEFENDER Europe 20

DEFENDER-Europe 20, and linked activities, will increase strategic readiness and interoperability by exercising the U.S. military’s ability to rapidly deploy a large combat-credible force and equipment from the United States to Europe; and alongside its allies and partners, quickly respond to a potential crisis. The joint, multinational training exercise is scheduled to take place from April to May 2020, with personnel and equipment movements occurring from February through July 2020. The exercise supports objectives defined by NATO to build readiness within the alliance and deter potential adversaries.
