MARFOREUR/AF Leaders Receive COVID-19 Vaccine

This week, service members around the Stuttgart community received the voluntary COVID-19 vaccination at U.S. Army Garrison Patch Barracks, near Stuttgart, Germany. The voluntary vaccines are being administered in a phased approach, prioritising health care workers and first responders, as well as mission critical and deploying personnel. History in the making: The 1st Bn., 77th Field Artillery Regiment launches HIMARS

In field training exercise Rail Gunner Lightning, 1st Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regiment will fire their first rounds since reactivation in late August 2020. The 41st Field Artillery Brigade is the only U.S. long-range, precision-strike capable Multiple Launcher Rocket Systems unit in Europe. The brigade is ready and capable to deploy in support of our NATO allies and partners. A three-ship formation of B-52H Stratofortress aircraft, assigned to the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, depart RAF Fairford, England, to take part in a Bomber Task Force (BTF) Europe mission over the Ukraine on Sep. 4, 2020. The strategic bomber missions provide theater familiarization for aircrew members and opportunities for U.S. integration with NATO allies and regional partners. Unsafe, unprofessional intercept of US bomber by Russian aircraft over the Black Sea

At approximately 11:19 a.m. on Aug. 28, 2020, two Russian Su-27 Flanker pilots intercepted a U.S. Air Force B-52 bomber that was conducting routine operations in the black sea over international waters. The Russian pilots flew in an unsafe and unprofessional manner while crossing within 100 feet of the nose of the B-52 multiple times at co-altitude and while in afterburner causing turbulence and restricting the B-52’s ability to maneuver. The B-52 Stratofortress aircraft was conducting routine operations in international airspace exercising our freedom of navigation and overflight. The U.S. Air Force routinely operates aircraft in the region in accordance with recognized international safety standards as prescribed in International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) rules of flight.
