On Memorial Day weekend, for the first time since 2019, U.S. European Command, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa, U.S. Army Europe and Africa and U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. Sixth Fleet participated in public American Battle Monuments Commission ceremonies. The cemetery is the final resting ground of 7,845 Americans who lost their lives while liberating Italy during World War II.

In addition to Wolters, guests of honor and speakers included U.S. Ambassador to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations Agencies in Rome Cindy McCain; Giorgio Mule, the Italian vice minister of defense; Raymond D. Kemp, an American Battle Monuments Commission commissioner; and U.S. Air Force Rabbi Sarah Schechter, a staff chaplain for the 86th Airlift Wing at Ramstein Air Base, Germany,
