First USEUCOM event of Large Scale Global Exercise 24, Allied Spirit, is underway

Allied Spirit 24 is designed to build interoperability and cooperation between NATO Allies and partners to ensure they can operate as one team across multiple systems.

The 7th Army Training Command, along with NATO Allies and partners, will host Allied Spirit 2024 at Hohenfels and Grafenwöhr Training Areas, Germany, from Feb. 26 to Mar. 27, 2024.

Allied Spirit 24 is a recurring exercise designed to prepare a multinational brigade in support of NATO deterrence initiatives. The German Army’s 41st Panzergrenadier Brigade serves as the primary training audience.

“The strategic relationship between the U.S. and NATO forged throughout the past seven decades is built upon a foundation of shared values, experiences and vision,” said 7ATC Commanding General Brig. Gen. Steven Carpenter. “Now, more than ever, this shared resolve is absolutely critical; Allied Spirit is a strong symbol of that ongoing relationship.”

Approximately 6,500 participants from NATO Allied and partner nations will participate in the exercise. Countries expected to participate in the exercise include, but are not limited to: Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Spain, the U.S. and the U.K.

Army units participating include, but are not limited to, the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Liberty, North Carolina; the 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia; the 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas; the 4th Security Forces Assistance Brigade, Fort Carson, Colorado; Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations teams, U.S. Army Reserve; and the 153rd Public Affairs Detachment, West Virginia National Guard.

Allied Spirit 24 is part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Large Scale Global Exercise 2024, an all-domain exercise series that executes a range of joint and multinational military activities and operations to demonstrate robust global presence and enduring global partnerships. LSGE 24 is a key element of the U.S.' enduring campaign to continuously strengthen military partnerships worldwide; demonstrate shared commitments to global stability, peace and prosperity; and respond to dynamic security challenges.
