summer. The village of Akhalsopeli, with 2,200 households and population of approximately 8,000.
The Kvareli region experiences multiple floods which cause significant damage to the local water supply,
frequently leaving 8,000 people in the area without potable water. Prior to the construction of the wells,
the citizens were dependent on unfiltered river water.
This project allowed for the installation of 26 water access points (concrete basins with copper
faucets located throughout the village) for the population, with the city is currently installing more
piping to allow additional residents to hook up their homes directly to the water supply.
The four wells can supply 800 tons of water per 24 hour period or 150 Liters per person per day.
