Since 1952, EUCOM has participated in or provided support to more than 200 named operations varying from humanitarian and natural disaster relief efforts to peacekeeping and anti-terrorism/force protection operations across Europe. Its past is just as varied as its present. During the Cold War years, EUCOM focused on preserving peace in Europe. Since then EUCOM has deployed forces to support more than 95 contingency, NEO, and humanitarian operations and continues to build upon its proud heritage and achievements.

EUCOM’s value as we move forward in today’s ever-changing world lies in its ability to maintain strong partners while proactively seeking to uncover new partnering opportunities with other countries, U.S. government entities, academics and NGOs to promote a peaceful, stable region.

International Cooperation

The Military-to-Military Engagement Program (mil-to-mil or M2M) is spearheaded at EUCOM by the J5 though multiple directorates, staff sections, National Guard units, and the component commands have a role carrying out the mission.

One of EUCOM's key activities is to strengthen NATO's collective defense and assist its transformation. This is accomplished through our primary mission of building partner capacity to enhance transatlantic security.

Relations between the U.S. and the Czech Republic are excellent and reflect the common approach both have to the many challenges facing the world at present. The U.S. looks to the Czech Republic as a partner in issues ranging from Afghanistan to the Balkans, and seeks opportunities to continue to deepen this relationship.
