MONTEBOURG, France--Maj. Gen. Ryan F. Gonsalves, commanding general of the 4th Infantry Division, pays honor to Ivy Division Soldiers who served during World War II at a memorial dedication in Montebourg, France, June 3, 2017. Gonsalves joined the Deputy of the Manche Phillipe Gosselin and Mayor Jean-Pierre Mauquest to unveil the placard adorning a wall from the ruined 15th century fortress of St. Marcouf-Les-Gougins. The monument was set in the town center in honor of the U.S. Army Soldiers of the 4th Inf. Div. who liberated Montebourg June 19, 1944, after 15 days of fighting.Led by Brig. Gen. Theodore Roosevelt Jr., the Soldiers of 8th Inf. Regt. assaulted the northern coast of Normandy's Utah Beach, pushing through to Ste. Maire-Eglise, Montebourg and Cherbourg in 23 days. "The stories of their bravery, of their generoisty, and of their leadership is more relevant now than it has ever been," Gonsalves told the city's hosts Deputy of the Manche and the mayor of Montebourg, distinguised guests, veterans and compatriots. "It is up to us, today's generation, to carry that legacy into the future. Today, together, we pledge to do so and reaffirm our commitment as a free people that tyranny must be met with resolve, and that liberty is always the achievement of courage," said Gonsalves.

MONTEBOURG, France--The commanding general of the 4th Infantry Division leads U.S. Army Soldiers deployed and serving in Europe marching to the World War II monument in Montebourg, France, to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of D-Day, June 3, 2017. More than 100 Soldiers, joined the commanding general, French compatriots and people of Montebourg, during a march from the town center to the memorial wall. Select Soldiers from the "Fighting Eagles" 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment of the 3rd ABCT, 4th Inf. Div., participated in the march, the memorial dedication ceremony and dinner hosted by Montebourg civic leaders. "Today, we remember those sacrifices and honor the courage of the 4th Inf. Div. Soldiers and our Allies who fought here in Montebourg, the first significant objective off of Utah Beach, where nearly a yearlong advance began to liberate the continent," said Gonsalves, dedicating the memorial to the Soldiers who led the Allied-invasion into German-occupied Europe. GARKALNES, Latvia – A shipment arrived by train July 7, 2016, containing M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles (BFV), M1114 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV), and M977 Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT) for the soldiers assigned to 3rd Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment. Soldiers assigned to 386th Transportation Detachment, 39th Transport Battalion, are the movement control for 3rd Battalion.
In front of a formation of two allied nations, a Polish and American soldier stand side by side bearing their country’s colors before an opening of training ceremony recognizing the partnership between the two participating units, K Troop, 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, and the 12th Mechanized Brigade, Polish Army, Jan. 18, at Konotop, Poland. Soldiers with 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, participate in a live-fire tank shoot firing the first ever rounds fired by a U.S. M1A2 tanks in Bulgaria at Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria, June 24. Transported as part of a tank section from Germany to Bulgaria, the Abrams tank will be used by soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, alongside Bulgarian soldiers from the 6th Brigade Battle Group, during a live-fire exercise during Operation Speed and Power during Kabile 15 as part of Atlantic Resolve-South. Dragoons from Iron Troop, 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, maneuver through a forest toward a simulated enemy stronghold. Their mission was to capture a high value target as part of a combined training exercise with Estonian Allies in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, March 7, 2015, in Rabassare, Estonia. The exercise saw Iron Troop Soldiers conduct urban operations while the Estonians defended the village. 3rd Sqdn., 2nd Cav. 3rd Infantry Division arrives to support Operation Atlantic Resolve

Approximately 750 U.S. Army and military vehicles and equipment, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery pieces and helicopters from the 3rd Infantry Division arrived in Riga, Latvia, on Monday.

RIGA, Latvia – Soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division offload an M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank from the transportation vessel “Liberty Promise” March 9 at the Riga Universal Terminal docks. More than 100 pieces of equipment, including the tanks, M2A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicles and assorted military cargo, will move on to sites in other areas of Latvia as well as Estonia and Lithuania in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
EUCOM announces USAF deployment in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve

"The United States Air Force deployed 12 A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft as part of a Theater Security Package in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve to Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. Approximately 300 Airmen and support equipment are deploying with the A-10s from the 355th Fighter Wing, Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. While in Germany these aircraft will forward-deploy to locations in Eastern European NATO nations. Units will conduct training alongside our NATO allies to strengthen interoperability and to demonstrate U.S. commitment to the security and stability of Europe," said U.S. Navy CAPT Greg Hicks, U.S. European Command spokesman.
