HOHENFELS, Germany, (Feb. 20, 2011) -A Georgian soldier assigned to the 33rd Light Infantry Battalion talks to an exercise role-player during a training patrol at the Joint Multinational Training Center, here. The soldier is participating in the Georgia Deployment Program- Mission Readiness Exercise, where a majority of the Marines serving as observer/controllers were from 3rd Bn, 7th Marine Regiment, mentoring the 33rd LIB before they head to Afghanistan this spring. Since the signing of the Charter, the United States and Georgia have strengthened their mutual cooperation based on U.S. support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and its commitment to further democratic reform.

The Georgian Deployment Program was piloted as a two-year training program consisting of four six-month rotations to train Georgian infantry in counter-insurgency tactics, techniques and procedures and prepare for deployment.
