Finland and the U.S. maintain excellent relations and the U.S. supports and values Finland's desire for interoperability and compatability with NAATO, as well as bilateral military mutual training opportunities.

Finland deploys military personnel and crisis management experts to the NATO mission in Afghanistan, and Finnish troops have participated in UN peacekeeping activities since 1956.

There is an Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement in place with Finland.
