More than 500 military members from nine nations are participating in the annual U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff-sponsored exercise May 28 - June 8. The goals of the exercise are to strengthen interoperability, facilitate training in crisis response and disaster management, and validate the readiness of deployable military medical and humanitarian assistance teams. April 5, 2011 | SKOPJE, Macedonia -- Dr. Vladimir Chadikovski, pediatric surgeon, explains the functions of the various machines to U.S. Ambassador Philip Reeker during a tour of the hospital. The United States European Command coordinated with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Macedonia, donated $350,000 of equipment to the State University Hospital. The donation allowed for a complete renovation of the Pediatric Surgery Clinic and the purchase of top quality medical equipment designed to help the recovery of Macedonia's youngest patients. The hospital employs highly specialized personnel to perform a wide spectrum of treatments, including complex surgeries on the preterm born infants and children up to 14 years of age.
