HANAU, Germany — After ferrying across the Main River, a vehicle from the German army's 2nd Company, 251st Feldjaeger (Military Police) Battalion disembarks from an assault float bridge at Campo Pond. The bridge was assembled by the U.S. 502nd Engineer Company during "Iron Crossing," a combined training exercise conducted Aug. 6-10, 2006, both on and off the Campo Pond training area here. The exercise, which involved river and convoy operations, served as the second half of a mission rehearsal exercise the 502nd began in June 2006 with a similar crossing of the Rhein. The partial closure of the river, coordinated by V Corps' Maneuver, Environmental and Consequence Management division, gave the engineers an opportunity to get realistic, challenging training in an unfamiliar environment, while German military support enhanced training for both units. The German platoon provided convoy escort and security during "Iron Crossing's" off-installation training
