MONROVIA, Liberia — The streets were lined with hundreds of smiling faces and thumbs-up signs. Happy shouts of "Marines!" were directed towards a humanitarian assistance convoy of two seven-ton trucks and several humvees laden with thousands of dollars worth of hospital and school supplies making their way slowly through the city of Monrovia, Liberia.

HIGH SPEED VESSEL SWIFTn At Sea — While transiting off the coast of Monrovia, Liberia as part of Africa Partnership Station (APS), March 20, High Speed Vessel Swift (HSV 2) received a distress call, relayed from the Maritime Regional Coordination Center (RMCC) in Lisbon, of a Portuguese fishing vessel, the Princesa Di Guadiana, stranded 100 nautical miles off the Liberian Coast with no food, water or fuel.

MONROVIA, Liberia — Africa Partnership Station (APS) and West Africa Training Cruise (WATC) began arriving today aboard three U.S. military vessels; the amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43), Propositioning Marine Corps Container Roll-on / Roll-off Ships USNS 2nd Lt. John P. Bobo (T-AK 3008), USNS Lcpl. Roy M. Wheat (T-AK 3016), to conduct a sea basing exercise off the shore of Liberia along with various humanitarian events ashore. High Speed Vessel Swift (HSV 2) will arrive in the next couple of days to join in the efforts.
