The following is a readout from the U.S.-Turkey Counter-ISIL Coordination Conference from U.S. European Command spokesman Navy Capt. Greg Hicks, director of Communication and Engagement.

U.S. European Command spokesman Navy Capt. Greg Hicks, director of Communication and Engagement, provided the following readout from the U.S.-Turkey Counter-ISIL Coordination Conference:

"Turkey is a strategic ally, close friend, and valuable partner in the Coalition. We appreciate and applaud Turkey's willingness to contribute to the Coalition efforts.

"The joint team from U.S. European Command and U.S. Central Command traveled to Ankara, Turkey, for a coordination conference Oct. 15-16, 2014. This coordination conference was a military-to-military planning and consultation effort to initiate exploration of the technical details of Turkish cooperation and contributions to Coalition efforts.

"The two sides had a constructive, substantive and detailed dialogue intended to inform and focus Turkey's decisions on how they will further contribute to the coalition.

"We applaud, in particular, Turkey’s willingness to host the train and equip program for the moderate Syrian opposition.

"Finally, we look forward to continuing these discussions in the coming weeks."
