Philip Breedlove, who is also the 17th Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO Allied Command Operations, met with senior leaders July 20 at the EUCOM Security Seminar to discuss current and future defense efforts to ensure the continued relevance of NATO and security of Europe at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies here.

The seminar, held July 18 to 20, was to discuss current and future defense efforts to ensure the continued relevance of NATO and security of Europe. Partner-nation participants were graduates of U.S. war colleges, including eight Marshall Center alumni. Marshall Center Professor of NATO and European Security Issues John Kriendler moderated the academic panel discussion - NATO’s New Strategic Calculus: How to Re-Energize NATO - that took up most of the agenda for the seminar’s last day, July 20.

Panel members consisted mostly of Marshall Center professors: Dr. Robert Brannon, Dean; Dr. Matthew Rhodes, of National Security Studies; U.S. Army Col. Joseph King, director of Program on Terrorism and Security Studies; and, Dr. Ralf Roloff, senior German professor. Marshall Center was chosen as the location for this venue by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.
