U.S. European Command Identifies U.S. Navy Casualty
USEUCOM News Release identifies U.S. Navy casualty in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

STUTTGART, Germany – A Sailor assigned to American Forces Network-Europe was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at approximately 7 a.m., Dec. 14, in Kaiserslautern.

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Dmitry Chepusov, 31, of Edgewater, N.J., was found unresponsive in a privately-owned vehicle and subsequently pronounced dead by German medical authorities called to the scene by German law enforcement officials.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of our own,” said Lt. Col. Sherri Reed, commander of American Forces Network-Europe. “Dmitry was a true shipmate, always watching out for his fellow servicemembers. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

A private memorial service is planned for Thursday at Ramstein Air Base.

The cause of death is currently under investigation by U.S. and German authorities. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
