U.S. Army Europe announces Department of the Army-directed civilian employee reduction
U.S. Army Europe announced today that the Department of the Army has directed a reduction of 160 Department of the Army civilian positions in USAREUR.

HEIDELBERG, Germany --U.S. Army Europe announced today that the Department of the Army has directed a reduction of 160 Department of the Army civilian positions in USAREUR. These positions are scheduled to be off the books by September 30, 2013. DA employees affected by this reduction are being notified as appropriate.

The 160 positions to be reduced are with Headquarters USAREUR, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Joint Multinational Training Command and USAREUR’s brigade combat teams. This action does not directly affect the local national workforce, but USAREUR will continue to transform the entire civilian workforce to match the demands of supporting its uniformed forces.

Leaders and supervisors are doing everything possible to mitigate the effects of these reductions on the workforce.

“USAREUR recognizes the dedicated service of our civilian employees and is committed to treating all employees with the dignity and respect they rightfully deserve,” said USAREUR acting commander Maj. Gen. James Boozer.
