BABADAG, Romania — In his last day at the ROMEX 05 exercise, Army Maj. Gen. Michael Taylor, commander of the 36th Infantry Division, Texas National Guard, donated a color printer, books, maps and other things costing about $5,000 to the Sarichioi General School in Romania.

The teachers and a group of children dressed in Romanian traditional costumes greeted the American comrades. They thanked the Soldier for the presents by throwing a cultural show.

The public enjoyed the Romanian traditional dancing and singing, evident by the numerous photos captured at the event.

"It is an honor for me to be here, surrounded by gifted children that prepared for us such a wonderful show," Taylor said.

Lucian-Viorel Niþã, the school director, also thanked Taylor and his Soldiers for the gifts.

"These gifts will help both the children and teachers to increase the value of the act of teaching," Niþã said.

Sarichioi village has 8,700 residents and is the largest town in Tulcea County, located near the shooting range here.

The noble gesture of the American Soldiers in the 36th Infantry Division is just the first of several donations that will be made in various villages near here.
