EUCOM, U.S. Embassy opens renovated HIV/AIDS center in Ukraine
ODESA, Ukraine — A renovated HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment center opened here March 20 with help from the United States.
U.S. European Command provided $273,000 to renovate the 16-year-old center as part of its humanitarian assistance program.
The program "shows the U.S. military's genuine concern for the people of Ukraine. Projects such as these are about U.S.-Ukrainian cooperation," said Robert Moore, deputy director of EUCOM logistics and security assistance.
This project is the latest of three EUCOM humanitarian assistance projects in Odesa oblast within the last three years. The renovation included interior and exterior repair and the installation of new water boilers to provide antiseptic working environments and heating for the building.
