Embassy provides emergency assistance in response to floods

The recent flooding in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in both entities and Brcko District, has inflicted extensive damage to infrastructure, interrupted water and electricity supply, caused landslides, and necessitated the evacuation of over 13,000 people.

Based on an official request submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Charles English requested emergency funds to assist with relief efforts.

The Embassy is pleased to announce that the U.S. Government -- through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) of the United States Armed Forces -- is providing a total of $60,000 in emergency humanitarian assistance to help with recovery in the aftermath of the flooding.  USAID disaster assistance funds in the amount of $50,000 will be used to purchase commodities for distribution by the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  EUCOM's emergency humanitarian funds of $10,000 will be used to purchase and distribute flood relief equipment to BiH authorities.
